Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be holding a workshop on May 18th.

Program Director Shelby Van Horn says that they will be hosting an Open Class Ag Hall workshop at the Ag Hall on the Guthrie County Fairgrounds. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the supervisor for the workshop is also someone who has much experience in the Open Class events.

“So if you have a garden at home and are planning on bringing tomatoes, or herbs, or potatoes, anything about that, we’re gonna have a workshop with Erla (Hawkins). She is the Ag Hall Superintendent and she’s just gonna teach us about some things that are requirements and just give us some advice on different things related to the Ag Hall.”

Van Horn mentions that the workshop is open to all youth aged five to twelve years old, and will be from 1-3pm. She adds that those wanting to attend don’t have to be in 4-H to participate, but that they do need to register for the event itself, which they can do by calling the Extension Office in Guthrie Center at 641-747-2276.
