Perry baseball takes the field for the first time tomorrow to open up 2025.  The Bluejays are coming off an 11-18 season that saw them finish tied for fourth in the Heart of Iowa Conference.  Perry graduated four seniors from last year and will need to fill three starting positions.  Owen Myers is the top returner.  He did it all on the mound and in the batter’s box.  Fellow senior, Geren Kenney, returns out in centerfield.  Coach Michael Craig also expects to use Kenney as the closer.  Reid Iben and Mason Hayes both saw action in 27 games for Perry as 8th graders and should be key contributors as freshmen.  The Bluejay manager also expects more underclassmen to see large roles.

“I’m looking forward to Mason and Reid as well as others stepping in and taking charge.  We also got a couple 8th graders in Luke Adair and Gauge Freeman that’ll be filling places this year that I think they’re already mentally able to step in and face pitches as an 8th graders”.

This season opens at home with a date with Heart of Iowa Conference foe Prairie City-Monroe.  You can hear that game tomorrow on KDLS.  The first road game will come on Wednesday as Perry travels to two time HOIC defending champions, West Marshall.  Some other highlights in 2025 include home doubleheaders against Saydel (May 30) and Roland-Story (June 18).  The Bluejays will travel to Greene County on June 11 and will host the Rams at Principal Park in Des Moines on June 16.  The regular season concludes on July 7 against Des Moines Christian in Perry.  In total, the Bluejays are scheduled for 26 games.  Full schedule below:
