Senior Payton Policky takes the mound for the first time in the 2025 season

The AC/GC Chargers baseball team was finally able to play their first game of the season last night.

The Chargers were able to keep the Crusaders from scoring in the first inning, though the same happened in the bottom of the first as well. Coon Rapids-Bayard collected two runs on an infield double in the top of the second inning, but the Chargers came back in the bottom of the third and were able to put up three runs with the help of a couple ground balls by Jackson Pfrang and Noah Kading.

The Chargers were held scoreless the rest of the game, while the Crusaders picked up a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings, and two runs in the sixth. The game ended with the 6-3 loss of the Chargers. Center fielder Tommy Skram was busy on defense for the night, catching five fly balls for outs. On the offensive, Blaize Dorsey started the night on the mound, and was relieved midway through the game by Colton Clark. Senior Payton Policky then took the mound in the fifth, picking up four strikeouts.

Both the Chargers baseball and softball teams hit the road to face off against the Des Moines Christian Lions tonight. Tune in to KKRF 107.9FM at 7pm to hear the live broadcast of the softball game.
