The 16th Annual Dallas County Sheriff’s Office All-Wheel Show is happening on Saturday, and people still have time to register their vehicles.

According to Dallas County Sergeant Ray Dirksen, the event helps raise money for Special Olympics Iowa that will help athletes participate in upcoming competitions as well as educating them about the importance of seeking medical treatment, if needed. He highlights that 150 vehicles were apart of the show last year, and so far over 60 have registered this year. Dirksen is always star struck by the variety of vehicles that attend the show each year, but bringing joy to the athletes holds a special place in his heart.

“There is no better feeling than working with them because the athletes show you so much true and bold joy and love that there’s nothing that really matches that, and it kind of inspires you to go to the next year.”

Dirksen reveals there are awards that are given out, including the Special Olympics Choice, the Most Likely to Be Stopped By A Cop, Best Off-Road Vehicle, among many others. He illustrates that the All-Wheel Show is taking place from 10am-2pm with the awards to follow at 2:30pm. KKRF will be on site from 9-11am as Dirksen describes that people can make donations to Special Olympics Iowa and for those who’d like to still register their vehicle can do so online, through the mail, or on the day of the show on Saturday for $25.
