A crash in Madison County Thursday afternoon ended in the deaths of a Stuart man and a Casey man.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 63 year old Jewel Clark of Winterset was traveling northbound on Earlham Road, when a Pontiac Grand Prix GT driven by 55 year old Kurtis Hanner of Stuart, which was traveling southbound, lost control and struck Clark’s vehicle. According to the report, Hanner’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.

Both Hanner and his passenger, 56 year old Rodney Jones of Casey were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, and died on scene due to their injuries. All individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Clark was transported to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by Madison County Emergency Medical Services with serious injuries.
