Earlier this week the Greene County School Board approved the hiring of Zach Beekman as high school head wrestling coach for the 2025-26 season. Mark Sawhill and Clint Flack were hired as the high school assistant coaches.

Coach Beekman was the head coach of the Rams for four seasons ending with the 2022-23 campaign. He’s been the middle head coach the past two seasons. The coach and his wife, Ashley, have three small children, and both parents work full-time, so the decision to return to the high school head coaching position was not taken lightly. “The first time I was ambitious and went into it and tried to do everything myself and when you add all three kids on top of that it got a little overwhelming. That’s where I made the decision to step back. Now we’re in a little better place two years later and I just didn’t want the kids that are coming into this program to not have an opportunity to be successful!”

The Rams haven’t had big numbers in the wrestling room for some time, but the quality has been very high. Mc Kinley Robbins and Kale Petersen each won two individual State titles while at Greene County earlier this decade, and Brent Dennhardt won a title in February of this year. There have been other place winners and State qualifiers as well.
