There will be a fun event for children at the Stuart Public Library coming up.

Librarian Rachel Majerus says that they will be working with Guthrie County Public health and Dr. Cody Silker for a Teddy Bear Check Up on July 23rd. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio more about it.

“It’s designed to help children become more comfortable with medical procedures and healthcare settings. Children will be encouraged to bring a beloved stuffed animal to the library where Dr. Silker will give each stuffed animal a medical examination. Children will be able to learn about common procedures like checkups and vaccinations at this event.”

Majerus mentions that the library and GCPH worked together to get the event set up, in hopes to help reduce anxiety and fear that is associated with doctor’s visits. She adds that if children don’t have a stuffed animal that they can or want to bring, the library will have some that they can adopt.
