The uncommon Greene County High school volleyball schedule continues tonight when the Rams host Class 3A sixth rated Nevada in the middle school gym in Jefferson in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The Rams opened the season just two days ago with a four-set victory over CMB (Maxwell), which was one of the latest opening dates of any team in the state.

After tonight, the home portion of the schedule will be halfway done as Greene County has only four home dates on the schedule. After the Rams host Roland-Story (Story City) on Sept. 16, just one home date will remain and 34 days are scheduled between the third and fourth home games. The fourth home game on the schedule is with non-conference opponent Perry on Monday, Oct. 20, which also ends the regular season for the Rams.

Nevada is 6-2 overall and 2-0 in HOIAC play. The Cubs are the defending conference champions and they qualified for the 2013 state tournament. The two losses for the Cubs are to Class 5A programs Urbandale and Ankeny Centennial.
