The Dallas County Temporary Redistricting Commission held a meeting on Tuesday relating to the increasing number of supervisors from three to five that will go into effect next year.

Supervisor Julia Helm, who sits on the commission, shares that the meeting was to hold a public hearing on the proposed five supervisor’s districts in Dallas County. She details that during the public hearing, there were comments from individuals about the meaning behind Dallas County being “Plan 2,” which Helm says that it refers to all candidates living in one of the five districts that will represent the county.

Helm reveals that after the public hearing, the commission decided to adopt the Supervisor Redistricting Plan and send it forward to the Dallas County Board of Supervisors. She indicates that if the board approves it, then the plan would be delivered to the Secretary of State. Helm mentions that Dallas County residents would then vote during the normal partisan election process in 2026.
