After defeating the Perry Blue Jays on Tuesday night, the ADM girls volleyball team has the next week off from matches. The extended break from competition comes after the tigers played 14 matches in nine days and comes at a particularly good time, as it is homecoming week at ADM.
Tigers head coach Mary Beth Scott said it’s a positive that her girls will be able to better enjoy homecoming because they don’t have a Saturday tournament and don’t have to travel. Her varsity players’ only obligation over the weekend is to work a freshman tournament.
Scott said that during the hectic schedule of playing in a multi-team tournament every other day, it was difficult to have weight lifting sessions or work on the particulars of the team’s rotation and set plays. With a week off, Scott said the team will finally have the time to iron out small but important details and work on other areas of concern.
The Tigers (14-5, 1-0 Raccoon River Conference) will next take the court at 7 p.m. next Thursday at home against Boone.
