The Iowa State Fair is recognizing six families with the 2025 Way We Live Award, including one in Dallas County.

According to the Fair Association, the Taylor Farms out of Bouton, Iowa is in its fourth generation and evolved from horse-drawn equipment to modern technology, while maintaining deep-rooted traditions in livestock, crop diversity and community service. The organization states that the family includes Larry, Karen, Dan, Ila Jean, Todd, Noah, and Sarah, who have a livestock operation of cow-calf herd, a feedlot, and a hog finishing program.

The Fair Association details that together, they host agriculture visitors and share their conservation-minded, livestock-focused approach to sustainable farming. The organization reveals the others celebrated include the Kutzli Family from Stanton, the Kovar Family from Victor, the Miller Family from Cascade, Hatch Farms from Gladbrook, and the Heinrich Family from Maquoketa.

Each family receives $250, complimentary admission tickets, recognition on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage, a highlight video, a photo display in the Paul R. Knapp Animal Learning Center during the fair, and an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Downtown Mercy Campus. The Iowa State Fair will run from August 7th-17th in Des Moines.
