The leader of the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Cross Country team outlines the impact runners looking to have a breakout season.

Head Coach Josh Chapman is heading into his fifth year with the Tiger program, and loves to see the team growing, noting that approximately 40 guys are out running this year. He points out a couple of seniors that will be leading the team are Ty Landphair and Robbie Hall, followed by seniors Nick Subbert and Mark Behr III.

Chapman is hoping to see continued success from juniors Max Marple and Ty Miller, then sophomores Dain Holdmeyer and Jack Leistikow that are coming on strong as well. Chapman appreciates the growth of the team from when he began back in 2020.

“The one fun thing when we go year to year is when you have a successful program, and you’re not just successful in building great kids into young men, but also have success going to state and doing well at state, you always worry that your numbers might dwindle because guys don’t want to go out for a sport that maybe they don’t get to compete in the varsity level, but we’re doing the opposite, our team keeps getting bigger.”

During the 2024 season, the Tigers finished ninth at the Class 3A State Meet in Fort Dodge and graduated 10 seniors. This year, ADM has another 10 seniors and is setting up to run at their opening meet on Saturday, August 30th at Johnston High School for the Sunrise Invitational.
