A reminder that a special fundraiser meal is happening today at a long-standing structure in Grand Junction.

Co-organizer Juanita Gilley says the Grand Junction Municipal Pool is 60-years-old and they are hosting a free-will donation meal from 11:30am-1pm. Alan Robinson grew up in Grand Junction and says when the pool was built in 1965, the city was bustling. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio, the East Greene County School District had formed near the beginning of the 1960s and Grand Junction was starting to identify itself as a community with lots of businesses with active clubs and organizations.

Robinson sees the pool as a tremendous asset for the community. Serving as the Grand Junction Library Director, Robinson says young families move to their town because of the reasonable housing prices, utility costs and amenities, such as the pool.
