The final totals for the 2014 Greene County Relay for Life have been released.

Chair Peg Raney says the grand total is $55,500.67 which is more than last year’s total of $53,252.78.  She notes that this year’s total is through the month of August to allow for all donations throughout the summer months.

Home State Bank’s Team Towers raised the most money for team totals with over $7,000, Cancer Crusaders raised over $3,200 and St. Joe’s Holy Walkamolies contributed more than $2,800.

Raney points out that at their event on Saturday, April 26th, there were over 80 luminaries lit, the silent auction brought in $5,600 and the first-ever Color Out Cancer %k run/walk raised $4,700 and included over 250 participants  Through corporate sponsorships, they contributed $12,175 in cash and in-kind donations for the event.

She adds that the next Relay for Life event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2015.  Raney notes that the leadership teams are meeting monthly beginning this month.  Contact her to volunteer to be on the leadership team at 386-2797.
