While a majority of volleyball teams in the state will play their first competition this week, Perry is without a match until Saturday, September 6.

The Iowa Girls High School Union allows for 14 competition days throughout the season.  The Jayettes’ schedule is loaded up in the middle half of the year with conference matchups that didn’t allow much flexibility to start the year says Perry AD and Volleyball Coach Tina Lutterman in the future the conference will look to host more regular triangulars.

So we have to work within those parameters set forward by the state and we have a very full schedule with our conference growing next year with Woodward Granger.  We’re starting to try to create triangulars so we do have a triangular with Grandview Christian and Nevada this year just to try to see how that’s going to look so we’ll have more competitions and on the same night rather than more nights of competition (in the future).”

The changes to the schedule will go into affect next year.  The Jayettes open in the SCC Early Bird Tourney on September 6.  The first Heart of Iowa match is scheduled for September 8 at Greene County and Perry plays at home for the first time on September 11.
