The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department will be starting a couple of youth programs soon.

According to JPRD, flag football is for first through third graders that will take place on Thursdays from September 4th-25th from 5:30-6:30pm at Kelso Park. Organizers say this is a safe, non-contact way to introduce the sport in a fun way. The fees are $20 for Greene County Community Center members and $25 for non-members. The deadline to register is this Thursday.

JPRD staff say the other youth sport is the U8 Youth Soccer League. The dates of the league are September 6th-27th with practices taking place at Kelso Park, along with some of the games and some are played in Ogden. The game schedules will be announced after the teams are formed and the coaches will be setting up practices. Shin guards are mandatory and the registration fees include $35 for community center members and $40 for non-members, along with a $20 fee for youth jerseys. The deadline to sign up is also this Thursday.
