The Stuart Police Department is spearheading a fundraiser on Friday at the West Central Valley (WCV) Wildcats’s Patriots Night football game.

Stuart Police Sergeant and WCV School Resource Officer Katie Guisinger says that they are holding a Challenge Coin Fundraiser, with sale of the coins beginning at 7pm. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why she and the rest of the department decided to hold the fundraiser, and more on the coins themselves.

“Challenge Coins are pretty popular among first responders, military and other people just to collect. We thought that might be just something new to try. You know, we’ve never made department coins, so we thought we’d start kind of with two of our kind of more niche positions in the department. So we have one challenge coin that kind of shows K-9 Ally on there. And then the other coin, I made one for West Central Valley Schools and our SRO program.”

Guisinger mentions that each coin is available for $20, with purchases of the K9 program coin going to fund the program, and purchases of the SRO coin being donated to the WCV Parent Teacher Organization. She adds that payment can be made with cash, by check or through Venmo.
