Perry cross country is off to a hot start in the first month of the season.  Nathan Krohn is working with his coed team for the first time and is happy with the early season success.

The Jayettes returned one state qualifier from last season, Lily Myers.  The now junior has been dominate to begin the year.  She is fresh off a first place finish on Thursday at the ACGC Invite.  Myers tries to keep the negative thoughts away while on the course.

I don’t really think that much cuz sometimes when I get to think like the bad thoughts like how hard it is and stuff so I just try not to think at all and just zone out and just run.”

The lone senior on the team, Ivan Willett, is similar with his approach.

“I try not to think at all or somebody will say you should motivate yourself I try not to think at all though.”

The strides Ivan Willet has made as a sophomore have been astronomical and he has a unique mindset while running.

“This is fun, but I have to use the restroom.”

The Bluejays had three of the top 11 at the ACGC Invite.  The squad had their best finish of the year claiming second.

Perry will host the Leon Fox Invite on Thursday.
