The Lake Panorama Association will be doing repairs to the Lake Panorama dam this fall.

Project Manager Lane Rumelhart says that after a routine inspection last December, it was found that some hydraulics that have been part of the system for 20 years had some wear that needs repairs. He shares that LPA members who own boats, docks and boat lifts that have not yet contacted their service providers for winterization and removal should do so immediately.

Rumelhart explains that drawdown begins October first, meaning that river flow for the Middle Raccoon River downstream from the lake will have higher than usual levels. He adds that this will continue until the lake has been lowered by five feet, which should take 10-14 days. Rumelhart mentions that once the hydraulic cylinder replacement project begins, flow on the river will vary depending on the phase of the project, and rainfall that occurs. He says that the timeline for refilling the lake will depend on rainfall, and that at this time it is unclear if the lake will freeze at normal pool level or at a lower level.
