Perry travels to Atlantic for their second District game of the year.  Kickoff is set for 7P with the Perry Hy-Vee Pregame Show starting at 6P on KDLS.

Tonight’s 3A District 6 match up features two of the top running backs in the class.  Atlantic’s Ethan McNeal has rushed for 653 yards while Perry’s Nadir Ouahbi has 592 yards to his name.  Those yardage totals place each back in the top seven in 3A.

The Bluejays and Trojans share a pod for a second straight cycle.  Atlantic has one the last two meetings including last year’s 35-14 at Dewey Field.  The 21 point defeat was the closest District result for Perry in 2024.

The Bluejays sit at 0-5 (0-1) entering week six while the Trojans are 3-2 (1-0).  Perry fell last time out to rival Greene County 49-0.  The Bluejay attack was led by Jacobo Cerna-Gomez with 88 rushing yards in the loss.  Atlantic is fresh off a road victory over Creston 29-27.  They rode McNeal hard with 38 rushes and 216 yards.

Both running backs will be asked to do a lot, but the passing of junior QB Ian Fisher could be a key in a Perry win according to Head Coach Josh Vannornam.

“From our receiving core it’s just winning our one on one battles.  Hopefully our receivers can out effort them and run their routes the way they are supposed to be and catch the ball.  A lot has to go into the passing the ball right.”

The Bluejay defense is surrendering over 254 yards on the ground to begin the year.  Levi Perry-Swanson has a team high three tackles for a loss.  He along with the Perry defensive line will need to drop McNeal for a loss.

KDLS and the Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will have the coverage tonight at 6P.
