The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football Team had another offensive explosion on Friday, beating Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson (CBTJ) 42-7 to reach their second district win of the season.

The Yellow Jackets began the game with the ball and used seven minutes off the clock in their inaugural drive, getting to the 20 yard line of the Tigers, but failed to convert a 4th and 13, which gave ADM the ball on their own 16 yard line. The Tigers used three plays and quickly entered the endzone thanks to a 33-yard run from senior Quarterback Hudson Shull to make it 7-0.

Following a punt from CBTJ, ADM had another quick strike with a 19-yard pass from Shull to senior Wide Receiver Leyton Gerleman, and Shull garnered his second passing touchdown with a 28-yard TD to senior Tight End Reece Strittmatter for a 21-0 lead. The Tigers acquired two more rushing touchdowns in the first half by Shull and senior running back Reed Obstarczyk to open up a 35-0 advantage for the halftime break.

The Yellow Jackets finally got on the score board in the fourth quarter, striking with a 32-yard pass from senior QB Jayden Fujii to sophomore Braxton Parks, but ADM responded with a 2-yard run by Obstarczyk to put finishing touches and the final score of 42-7.

Shull completed the night with 136 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and one interception. Strittmatter and Gerleman notched individual touchdowns, while Shull rushed for 97 yards, scoring 2 TDs on the ground, with Obstarczyk tallying 96 yards and 2 touchdowns. On CBTJ’s side, Fujii threw for 164 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 64 yards.

The Yellow Jackets fall to 3-3 on the season (1-1 district), as they will travel to Boone this coming Friday, while the Tigers improve to 5-1 (2-0 district) and will make the long trek to Glenwood for another monumental district game.
