Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is getting ready to begin holding pesticide applicator training sessions.

Program Director Shelby Van Horn says that the first of these continuing education classes will be this month. She adds that they have multiple topics covered, but that they can get a few more.

“There is a couple courses that we don’t have exact showing dates for, but we can start showing them in the fall. So if you are eager to get those taken care of and have some spare time or a rainy day, give the office a call and we can get some of those scheduled and on the calendars. Definitely something that has to be taken care of each year before the new year.”

Van Horn mentions that the October 22nd training is for applicators that need certifications for forest, aquatic and right-of-way pest control, and will be from 9-11:30am at the Extension Office in Guthrie Center. She adds that applicators signing up for the training will need to pay a $45 fee if they sign up before October 22nd, and $60 on the day of.
