
The Stuart City Council will meet in regular session Monday night.
The Council will discuss the Council member vacancy following the resignation of David Doely, then consider for approval a new hire for the police department and discuss with Holmes Murphy Insurance representative Clair Michel. They will also consider for approval several items for the Wambold 3rd Addition project, including acceptance of the street lighting project, liquidated damages, final pay estimate to McAninch Corporation and final acceptance of the Wambold 3rd Addition project.
The Council will then set a public hearing date and a date to receive bids for the 2026 Street Improvements project, then consider for approval a resolution regarding cigarette permits for the fiscal year from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Next on the agenda, they will set a meeting for a proposed development agreement with Doely Holdings, LLC, then consider for approval the 2025 Urban Renewal project.
The Council will also consider for approval a retirement proposal for Public Works Director Jim Henderson, new hires for the rescue department, and hear from Mayor Dick Cook on a bid to abate nuisance properties, code enforcement and the city’s Beggar’s Night. They will then hear from Stuart Economic Development Director Matt Funk, before entering a closed session to discuss pending litigation with counsel. Once they return from closed session, the Council will consider for approval a tentative settlement agreement with the rescue department.
The meeting will begin at 6pm in the Council Chambers in Stuart City Hall.
