PCM hosted the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference coed cross-country meet in Monroe on Monday at the Gateway Recreation nine hole golf course. Greene County was fourth among nine boys’ teams and the girls were sixth among seven teams. The girls from Saydel (Des Moines) and Perry did not have the minimum five runners to qualify for a team score.

West Marshall (State Center) was the girls’ team champion. The Trojans scored 34 points to 45 for PCM, 82 by Grand View Christian (Des Moines), 109 from Roland-Story (Story City), Nevada 114, 160 from Greene County, and 178 points for South Hamilton (Jewell). Winning the boys’ crown was PCM with 58 points, one ahead of Nevada’s 59. Saydel had 97, with 123 for the Rams, followed by Perry at 148, GVC 150, WM 154, R-S 166, and 202 from SH.

Greene County boys’ were led by junior Brady Carstensen. He covered the five kilometers (3.1 miles) in 18:10.55, finishing ninth and earning All-Conference honors.  Sophomore Nick Black was 16th in 18:49.39. Black was followed by senior Jaden Koller, 25th in 19:25.06, with sophomore Kole Johnson-Peterson finishing 32nd in 19:48.66, and junior Eli Carstensen, 52nd in 20:48.99.

Senior Kaycee Pittman, also a Ram volleyball player. led the girls with a 14th place finish. She was timed in 22:29.41. Sophomore Kylee Mowrer was next for the Greene County girls at 24th place in 23:36.80, followed by sophomore Evelyn Snyder, 43rd in 26:18.23. Senior Leah McCormick was 57th in 29:41.65, and senior Ava Minnehan, 59th in 29:49.17.

Head coach Jeff Lamoureux told Raccoon Valley Radio, “I’m really proud of this team. They keep pushing themselves and their teammates to get better and it is starting to show. I’m very happy for Brady achieving all-conference, a goal of his going into the season. Now, we’ll set our eyes on State Qualifying!”

The regular season is over for the Rams.  The girls and boys are in Class 2A this year for the postseason.
