The AC/GC Chargers volleyball team competed in the first day of the West Central Activities Conference yesterday, and came out on top of their match.
Head Coach Caley Vaughan says that the team went into the tournament ranked third in conference, and took down the Ogden Bulldogs to advance to competition today. She mentions they won both sets 25-19. Vaughan tells Raccoon Valley Radio that junior Stella Largent had over 10 kills in the first set, with senior Camdyn Richter and junior Nora Langgaard both recording some of their own. She adds that senior Savannah Akers and Langgaard had some good blocks, with senior setter Becca Littler surpassing 500 assists on the season.
Vaughan explains that Largent had around 10 kills in the second set as well, with Richter, Langgaard and Akers adding some of their own. She shares that the team played scrappy and kept the ball in play one way or another. Richter, Littler, and junior Ilana Baumert all had ace serves in the second set, and the match was sealed with a final hit by Langgaard. The Chargers return to action today, and will face the number two team in conference, the Woodward-Granger Hawks at 5:45pm.
