The Perry School Board met in regular session on Monday.
According to Superintendent Clark Wicks, the board approved two separate maximum modified supplemental amounts from the School Budget Review Committee. He said that one was for $1.9 million for the Special Education Deficit, and the other one was in the amount of $31.5 million for English Learner Excess Costs for the 2024-25 school year.
Wicks shares that other items on the agenda that were approved included a five-year contract between Stericycle and the elementary school for regulated medical waste disposal, an observation agreement with Des Moines Area Community College for the current school year to make it possible for high school students to shadow cooperating teachers in the district, four Teacher Leadership Committee contracts for the current school year, purchasing state t-shirts for qualified athletes/activities for motivation, recognition, and continued excellence; and accepting an early graduation for high school student Derek Vetter.
Wicks adds that the board also set a public hearing for November 10th on the District’s Flexibility Account.
