As many know, a repair project on County Road P28 in Guthrie County has been approved by the County Board of Supervisors.
Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern says that work will begin in the 2026 construction season. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that at this time they’re unsure just how much traffic will be affected because they need to bid the project first , but that based on the planned repair method, it could be something drivers have to deal with for a while.
“There’s gonna be some significant impacts with the construction methods we’re gonna have to use to address that ride quality issue. It’s called crack and seat. You crack the concrete. It still stays in place. It does not get removed. But you crack it, and then you seat it. So you reestablish all the pavement’s contact with the grade below it, and that creates a good paving platform for the asphalt to go over top.”
Sebern mentions that this method can leave some big chunks, so whatever company that is selected to do the work may close the entire stretch of road, or they may leave it as a one lane closure and use pilot cars.
