A Greenfield boy is the Kid Captain for today’s Iowa Hawkeyes football game.

Seven-year-old Micah Norby of Greenfield has been named the Kid Captain for the Iowa versus Penn State game today. Norby was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy after his family observed he was falling behind in sports. He was the first boy to receive a new gene therapy treatment at Stead Family Children’s Hospital outside of clinical trials. This therapy, which needed to be administered before his sixth birthday to slow the disease’s progression, faced several delays due to unexpected illness and insurance issues. However, the treatment was finally approved and given to Norby the day before he turned six.
