The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.

The board approved an amendment to the professional services agreement with Farnsworth Group to design a concept plan for a new Emergency Medical Services Department Station, which will be located south of the former Dallas County Engineer’s Department along River Street. The board also approved the fourth pay application in the amount of $17,205 relating to the newly proposed criminal court building.

Other items on the agenda that were approved included a resolution for a joint road maintenance agreement between the cities of Grimes and Urbandale, accepting the 2026 certification form and the 2025 Weed Commissioner’s report f, a resolution to abate $1,119 in real estate taxes and an abatement of $4,791 in mobile home taxes for Dallas County properties, and a resolution to appoint Adam Criswell to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for a four-year term ending in December of 2029.

The only item that the board tabled was an archives access request from former Dallas County Supervisor Mark Hanson. Supervisor Chair Kim Chapman brought up that Hansen recently became the Curator of the Preservation Board and was hoping to get accessibility into the Administration Building for the purposes revolving around archive materials.

Supervisor Julia Helm was fine with giving access to Hansen, but wanted to determine the parameters of the time frame he would have permission to enter the building. She emphasized that she didn’t have a problem with giving him limited access, but was uncomfortable with the thought of him accessing the building 24/7, especially since he isn’t a county department head.

Supervisor Brad Golightly echoed Helm’s concerns, and Chapman acknowledged that he was unaware of all the details about Hansen’s request. He stated that Hansen was supposed to attend the meeting, but couldn’t and Chapman is going to ask him to provide more information to the rest of the board. Following discussion, the board collectively agreed to table the action until their next meeting on Tuesday.
