October is National Principals Month and the Greene County School District Superintendent is thrilled for the women who are at the helm of the three buildings in the district.

Superintendent Brett Abbotts acknowledges High School Principal Karen Shannon, Middle School Principal Cara Pedersen and Elementary School Principal Audrey Hinote their passion for educating students, each having an eye for leadership and possessing a dedication to not only the students and staff of the district, but also to the communities that the district serves.

“I am incredibly proud of all three of them and I love getting to work side-by-side with them on a daily basis. What they’re doing in their schools and the things that they’re solving and working towards is just incredible. And I just, I cannot thank them enough for the countless ways that they make a difference within our school district and within our community, and they’re sort of only just getting started.”

Abbotts also appreciates everyone’s willingness to perform as one unit and not as separate, stand-alone entities within their buildings.

“Their collaboration with each other is very, very high and very consistent. And I think that is one of the things that makes our entire admin team so strong. And I think we have seen that just now with the introduction of the Heartland AEA (Area Education Agency) coming in and some of the comments that they have made towards us about the connections that we have with each other and the things that we’re able to accomplish together, just because of the relationships that we have.”

Hinote is in her fourth year as elementary principal, whereas Shannon and Pedersen are in their third year as high school and middle school principals, respectively.
