In their October meeting, the West Central Valley School Board discussed certified enrollment numbers.

Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that this is important, as those numbers help decide funding for the district. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio more on how certified enrollment numbers are decided upon.

“You know, when we look at certified enrollment, there’s a lot of things that play into it. We are down a few students. I believe we’re down right around 10 or 11, but the significant player in that number is our open enrolled out students. That number is down by like 13, so we won’t receive that flow through funding. So that’s the biggest piece.”

Shockley mentions that this means that when looking at the total number of students served, it’s nearly the same as last year’s numbers.
