As Halloween quickly approaches, the Bouton Fire Department will be giving a good scare tonight, while also raising money, with its Haunted Church.
Fire Captain Karl Harris highlights that the department has been doing the haunted church all throughout this month, and is pleased with the amount of people that have attended. He acknowledges that when people enter the church, they can expect to see clowns, skeletons, snakes, and theatrical smoke. Harris mentions that the cost to enter is $5 for youth 12 years and under, then $10 for anyone over the age of 12, as he reveals where the funds will be going towards.
“Right now we’ve got two trucks and three doors, and it’s very inconvenient to get trucks out to go to fires and then putting them back in. So, we’re working with the city doing some switching around for the fire department. So we’ll end up with three bays to back trucks in and a little more expanded room for the fire station.”
Harris emphasizes that the fire department will maneuver the scare level, noting that if younger children enter, they will soften the environment to keep the event family-friendly. The haunted church is located along South Street in Bouton, and will be open tonight and then again on Halloween from 7-10pm.
Also, the communities of Redfield and Dexter will have their Beggar’s Nights tonight from 5-7pm, with Dallas Center’s happening tonight from 6-8pm.
