With Halloween coming up tomorrow, the Adel Parks and Recreation Department is hoping residents jump in on a fun festive activity, as the deadline approaches quickly.
According to Recreation Supervisor Ramona Dillinger, people of all ages are welcome to participate in their pumpkins carving contest. She describes that participants have to carve their pumpkins however they’d like and then take a picture to submit for an opportunity to win prizes. Dillinger invites people to get really creative by having a theme to decorate their pumpkins with, and wants the makers to dress up as well.
“We’ve had some in the past where the pumpkin was carved out and it had like a cat on it, and then the person who carved the pumpkin was dressed as a witch.”
She details that on a yearly basis, the parks and rec department usually receives between 10 and 15 pumpkin submissions. Dillinger highlights that all the pumpkins will be featured on the Adel Parks and Rec Facebook page, but the top three will be awarded with the prizes. She says that all submissions are due tomorrow at midnight, and photos can be emailed to her directly at rdillinger@adeliowa.gov.
