The season continues tonight for the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs who punched their ticket to the Class 5A state football tournament. In the first round, the 7-2 Mustangs travel to Sioux City tonight, to face off against the 8-1 Sioux City East Black Raiders. Kick off is scheduled for 7pm from Elwood Olsen Stadium.

Quarterback Chase Engel enters the first round of playoffs with over 1600 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, with his main target Chase Heitland entering tonight’s contest with 505 yards on 39 receptions with five touchdowns. On defense, Connor Stolpe looks to lead the charge as he currently sits as third in the state in total tackles with 99, and second in the state in solo tackles with 85.

Engel, Heitland, and Stolpe look for glory tonight as the Mustangs return to the state football playoffs for the first time since 2020, and for their first time now in Class 5A. Pregame on KDLS begins at 6pm tonight, with kick off to follow at 7.
