The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is hitting a milestone in 2025 with one of the Small Game Seasons.

DNR Conservation Officer for Dallas County Dustin Eighmy tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the organization is celebrating 100 years of pheasant hunting season within the state. He describes that with the recognition, the DNR is looking for a 20-year high on pheasant numbers with the counts. Eighmy highlights that it shouldn’t be difficult to hunt.

“Get out there, you’re going to have a lot of success. I’ve already seen lots of birds out there on my patrol time, so it should be a great time.”

The Pheasant Hunting Season opened on October 25th and runs through January 10th, 2026.
