November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and Guthrie County Hospital is taking part.

According to the hospital, more than 38 million Americans suffer from the disease, with several more at risk of developing it. To help promote awareness and healthy living locally, Guthrie County Hospital will be sharing health tips and resources on social media. Patients from the hospital can access endocrinology services with Dr. Huyam Awadalla through a telehealth appointment, with his services focusing on diabetes management and other hormone related conditions.

The hospital also offers a Diabetes Support Group, along with a Diabetes Self-Management Education Program. These provide ongoing education and encouragement, along with helping to provide tools to help individuals expand their knowledge on diabetes, manage the disease, and improve overall health. The Diabetes Support Group will meet this month on November 20th at 7pm in Sneakers Cafe at the hospital in Guthrie Center.
