The person who died after a crash occurred Wednesday morning along Highway 44 has been identified.

According to Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante, a collision happened between two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 44 and J Avenue on County Road P-58 around 8:35am. The Iowa State Patrol explains that a 2009 semi-truck, driven by 69-year-old Edward Swinger, of Redfield was traveling southbound on J Avenue and failed to stop, striking a 2009 Toyota Scion, operated by 63-year-old Laura Keasey, of Dallas Center, who was heading west on 240th Street along Highway 44.

The Iowa State Patrol details that Keasey was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and was transported to the State Medical Examiner, but would succumb to her injuries. Infante confirms that the intersection where the collision happened has been re-opened after it was initially closed. He notes the sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Adel Fire Department, the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
