An issued boil order for a portion of the city of Jefferson has been lifted.

City Administrator Scott Peterson says the water main break was located on Sunday at the intersection of Grimmell Road and Westwood Drive. However, Peterson explains the impacted area grew because of an additional problem the Public Works Department was facing.

“What they found out was that they weren’t able to shut water off just to that area. So it did expand the area a little bit. So the area that was affected and ultimately had a boil order in place is from Grimmell (Road) to the west, all the way to the west, on Lincoln Way, and on Westwood, and all of the offshoots of those streets. So, it ended up being a relatively large area that was covered by this boil order.”

Peterson thanks the Public Works Department for their continuing effort to get to the leak and get it repaired by Monday afternoon. He adds that the boil order was then put into effect, and the samples that were sent to the State Hygienic Laboratory were negative for contaminants. He says the water is safe to consume again.
