The Carnegie Library Museum will be holding the 11th annual Festival of Trees later this month, and the deadline to register has been extended out until this next week.

According to Volunteer Co-Chair Laura Stebbins, churches, businesses, or individuals can decorate their trees to put on display. Stebbins notes that even though the event is the “Festival of Trees,” people are welcome to design from an array of holiday items.

“People are very creative in what they do. Sometimes people bring parts of their collection. They’ll just set up the little scene of objects. It can really be anything, and people have done trees that have been handmade coat racks with a sign on it, or bags of seed wrapped in garland.”

Stebbins points out that there is not a height requirement for the trees, but the only rule is that they have to be artificial, as the real trees are fire hazards. She mentions that there is no cost to decorate a tree, and registration ends on Tuesday. Stebbins concludes that registration can be done by contacting Katie Schott at (515)-465-3809 or herself at (515)-360-4980.
