The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County have made their third quarter donation, and it went to the Guthrie Center Parent Teacher Group (GCPTG).

Member Kristen Crouthamel says that the group met on August 26th for their third quarter meeting, and heard presentations for GCPTG, the Guthrie County Arts Council, and the Panora Parks and Recreation Board. After consideration, they chose GCPTG as the recipient of a lump sum of $14,400. The GCPTG works to help bring back fun and enriching experiences that school budgets aren’t always able to cover. In the last year, they helped the kindergarten class go to the zoo, and helped the third grade class take a field trip to the historic Hitchcock House.

GCPTG also supported the district’s teachers with gift bags, meals and thank you notes, along with $50 to help cover classroom needs. This year they are hoping to increase that support to $200. The major project that the GCPTG are looking at is improving the preschool and kindergarten playground, which is expected to cost between $15,000 to $30,000. With this quarter’s donation, the 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County has contributed $415,300 since its 2017 inception. The next meeting will be held Tuesday at Lake Lumber in Panora.
