The Iowa High School Football Playoff semifinals wrapped up Saturday inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Of the 14 teams to play in the Championship games this week only four are from Eastern Iowa, while the other 1o are located in the central of western part of the state.

Three finals teams are quite familiar to the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area. In Class 2A, Van Meter and Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) meet for the State Title. Football is played in districts instead of conferences, but the Bulldogs belong to the West Central Activities Conference while the Knights are Hawkeye 10 members. In 3A, Nevada will face Bishop Heelan (Sioux City) in the title game. The Cubs are Heart of Iowa Activities Conference members.

Greene County did not play football this season against any of those teams, but the Rams meet Nevada in HOIAC play in all other sports, and they face Kuemper Catholic and Van Meter in a number of sports. The Rams even met Bishop Heelan in the baseball postseason last July.
