The first varsity competition of the AC/GC Chargers winter season is tomorrow night.

The Chargers girls basketball team is coming off a 22-2 season, and have the majority of the gears in their aggressive defensive machine coming back. Fans should be ready to see seniors Becca Littler, Camdyn Richter and Karli Kautzky, along with junior Stella Largent make a return to the starting lineup this season. The four combined for 484 rebounds, 178 assists, 263 steals, 41 blocks and 880 points. There are a few members who could fill the remaining starting position, which is left open after the graduation of last year’s lone senior on the court for the Chargers, Shay Lemke. Juniors Meranda Grueber, Olivia Mahaffey and Nora Langaard are all names that could be considered, especially Grueber who would be a good fit to try and bring back some of the speed and ball handling that Lemke had.

Head Coach Brad Baudler says that there are also quite a few freshmen who could see some good play time, including Kautzky’s sister Kailee, who had an impressive season for the Chargers volleyball team. A few other names just coming into high school include Jerzee Huss, Tessa Slaybaugh, Blair Brown, Carrie Downing and Trinity Calhoun.
