An area of Jefferson will have a study done to assess what is happening to portions of the utilities when there is lots of precipitation.
The City Council approved, at their most recent meeting, an engineering study of Drainage District 57 that will be done by Bolton and Menk. City Administrator Scott Peterson says this area consists mainly of the east side of town that is north of the Greene County Fairgrounds, along with some agricultural land to the east of city limits and south of the Jefferson Municipal Airport. He points out that the drainage system has been a persistent issue, with mainly flooding, with the storm water having to drain to the north.
Peterson talks about what the study will include.
“So what that will do is an analysis of the current system, and how that current system is operating, and the capacity of that current system, and identifies several potential problem areas. And then from those problem areas, it (the study) puts forth several different proposed projects which may remedy some of those problems.”
The Council approved the resolution for the study at a cost of $25,000 to come from the Sanitation Department fund.
