The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Monday.
A public hearing was held where the Supervisors acted as the Drainage District Board of Trustees about a proposed improvement for Drainage District 20 (DD-20). Jacob Hagan with AgriVia said the tile was originally installed in 1908 and through their analysis, it is undersized for modern farming. They are proposing to increase the outlet from 22-inches to 36-inches to achieve a better waterflow to bring it up to a standard of 0.5 inches instead of 0.10 inches. The total cost for the project was $1,575,000, with amounts to vary depending on the benefit to each of the 27 landowners, based on the assessment rate. Due to the landowners needing time to review the project, the Board of Trustees voted to keep the hearing open until January 19th at 9am.
Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson gave an update. He said that after hiring a new assistant parks and recreation director, a sanitation and streets employee, a water department employee, that they need to hire a parks and cemetery employee, as well as a new water superintendent. He mentioned that a report is still being finalized with engineering firm Bolton and Menk on a proposed sidewalk project on Westwood Drive and another sidewalk project to the Greene County High School that would be funded only by grant funding.
The Board then approved a resolution for the first reading to amend the zoning ordinance to include regulations for data centers and cryptocurrency mining operations, due to not officially approved the first reading after last week’s public hearing. They also approved a wine permit for Deal’s Orchard, a resolution to transfer funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to the general fund for $9,353 to BBS Architects and $4,036 to Optimized Systems for the HVAC project for the Greene County Courthouse, and the 2025 fiscal year Urban Renewal report as presented. The Board also tabled the 2027 fiscal year funding request from The Children’s Center, due to finalizing their report.
