The leader of the Raccoon River Northwest Wrestling Team, who Adel-DeSoto-Minburn partners with, discusses newer girls on the squad that are creating a positive impact.

RRNW has continued to get consistency from returning wrestlers of Katie Biscoglia, Calista Rodish, Cassidy McCallister, Natalie Keller, Izzy Duncan, and Ellie Hancock, but Head Coach James Biscoglia details that many new individuals have stepped up. He describes that Mya Van Beek, who wrestles at weight class 100, and Addison McGinness at 115 pounds, have been nice surprises this year.

“Mya, I think she’s currently ranked third, had a very good tournament at Donnybrook placing fifth. And she’s kind of been in the backdrop of Katie (Biscoglia), and Cassidy (McCallister) the last few years, and have done quite well. And then also Addy McGinness (who is) recently ranked third (and) had a really great tournament, I thought, at Donnybrook. She unfortunately had what was essentially after her wrestling match first round, lost to the ultimate champion and then wrestled good throughout the rest of the tournament. So, they’ve been really good contributors.”

RRNW has participated in 11 meets so far, with the latest one this past Saturday in Adel, taking home first place in the ADM Invite. The next match will be on January 3rd in Council Bluffs for the Lewis Central Girls Dual Tournament.
