A Grand Junction man was recently sentenced to a short-term jail time and probation for a domestic abuse incident.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Travis Stanek pled guilty to an amended charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for domestic abuse assault-strangulation. He had all but 42 days of a one year jail sentence suspended and then will be placed on one year of probation with the Boone/Greene County Probation Services.

The charge stems from an incident on August 21st after the victim told the Greene County Sheriff’s Office that Stanek was upset and angry and had his hands around the victim’s neck for about one minute. Deputies saw noticeable signs of the physical abuse.

Stanek was also ordered to pay over $400 in court-appointed attorney fees and court costs. Court documents show that the original charge against Stanek was a Class D Felony for domestic abuse assault-strangulation causing bodily injury and the charge was amended in the plea agreement.
