It’s the time of year that the Guthrie County Arts Council is actively pushing for more members in order to promote the art scene in the area. Ruth Owen, Treasurer of the organization says that their mission is to “support artists in the community, and to try to bring quality entertainment and programs of interest to the people of the community.”
Owen says that increased membership is crucial to the Art Council’s survival, as they are 100% supported by member dues, with one small exception, “We’re fully funded by our members and fundraising projects, we take no government funding, though the city of Guthrie Center did help with the Freedom Rock Project–they donated the land and some of the efforts.”
If you’re interested in joining the Guthrie County Arts Council, or at least finding out more about them, Owen suggests pointing your cursor towards their website, www.guthriecountyartscouncil.org. The annual cost to join the Council is twenty five dollars.
