Monday night non-conference girl/boy basketball had the Paton-Churdan teams in Manson to face Manson-Northwest Webster. The home teams won both games.

Win number three evaded the Rockets by a 29-27 score after being down 9-6 at the half. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rockets are 2-12 and the Cougars improved to 2-11. Freshman Edynn Smith had eight points for P-C with junior Alivya Smith at seven. Junior Kaliyah Minnihan added five points. The game was tied 17-17 at the end of third quarter.

The M-NW boys held off the Rockets, 66-60 and they are now 5-8 with P-C falling to 4-10. The Cougars led 39-29 at the half, then the Rockets held a 31-27 second half scoring advantage, but came up short. Junior Trevon Keely scored 20 points to lead the Rockets. Phoenix Hartman had 13 points with 12 by Damen Rice, and eight for Donovan Martin. Unofficially, Martin had seven rebounds and six for junior Bryce Stephenson. The team found out right before the game that junior starter Blaise Schilling was ill and went home sick. Coach Josh Cerveny adjusted the game plan and although facing adversity, the Rockets fought back. “I was proud of our effort and how we battled. We got a big lift from Damen Rice and Donovan Martin tonight,” said the coach.

The Rockets are off tonight with the boys hosting Woodward Academy on Thursday and both P-C teams at home on Friday of this week vs. CAM (Anita).
