Last year saw a lot of activity at Dallas County Hospital and Chief Executive Officer Angela Mortoza is looking ahead to another busy year in 2026.
Mortoza says the hospital expanded its orthopedic portfolio of services through adding spine and joint specialty clinic and surgery services in 2025. She adds that DCH Advanced Wound Care celebrated its 1-year anniversary last year.
Mortoza details that the hospital also made adjustments to the facility to accommodate the recent growth. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in November 2025 to celebrate the remodel of several areas, including a sterile processing room, Cardiopulmonary Department and the patient registration area. A quiet and low stimulus consult room was also created in the Emergency Department.

Mortoza explains that the community can expect to see additional updates in 2026.
“We’re evaluating the addition of endocrinology to help with patients experiencing hormonal imbalances that can lead to thyroid issues, infertility and more and will be offering those through telehealth, along with a telehealth service for diabetes. Dr. Fuller with DCH Family Medicine Perry and the ER will also be introducing a women’s health specialty clinic in 2026. The second floor on the north side of our building where we treat inpatient individuals will be remodeled and will result in the consolidation of eight rooms down to six to widen the bathrooms and add showers and that will result in them becoming ADA compliant.”
She adds that the hospital will also kick off the strategic planning process, which will help provide direction for the next three years on how to best serve the area communities. Mortoza says the hospital will seek guidance from community members to help with the planning process.
