The Mustangs dominated the Cardinals inside the Meadows Main Gym as part of a 68-13 victory Tuesday night.
DCG sprinted out to an early lead in the first quarter with six points from Macy Meyer and five points from Ava Smid. Seven Mustangs scored in the frame as they jumped out to a 22-9 lead.
In the second quarter, DCG extended its lead with a suffocating defense. The Mustangs allowed just one free throw and zero makes from the field from Newton while turning them over eight times. Meyer had nine in the period while Smid had seven. Leah Brauch, Aniyah Boens, and Paige Harvey all had buckets as well to jump out to a 44-10 lead at the break.
The beatdown continued in the second half. Meyer and Smid ended with 17 and 16 points, with a complement of DCG players scoring in support. Ten Mustangs earned a tally in the scoresheet on the evening on their way to a resounding 68-13 victory.
With the win, the Mustangs go to 14-2(6-1). The girls will be in action next on Friday night in Oskaloosa.
